Active Start: A Statement of Physical Activity Guidelines for Children (3rd Edition) Now Published

The 3rd edition of the Active Start Physical Activity Guidelines for Children from Birth to Five Years has recently been released.  Published by SHAPE America, this edition is authored by Dr. Stephen Virgilio and Dr. Rhonda Clements. The guidelines are divided into three categories: Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers. Each level includes five specific guidelines with appropriate physical activity examples and explanations to help guide the reader. SHAPE America takes a position on the importance of physical activity and promoting children’s motor skillfulness from the earliest age.
