AIESEP 2021 Honorary Developing Country Award Winners– Lara Paul

My name is Lara Paul. I received my BSc (Hons) in Exercise Science in 2019 at the University of Cape Town in South Africa where I started my research in rugby. I am currently doing my Masters in Exercise Science where I am exploring the internal and external load of the tackle. My areas of interest are performance, participation, and development of rugby players. Recently I have started to explore the research done on coaches in rugby union and rugby league. I am a strong believer that sport plays a crucial role in the mental and physical development of children and adults. Team sports, such as rugby, allows for extra developmental benefits such as leadership positions and teamwork. My hope is to contribute to improving the performance and participation of rugby players of all ages. In addition to completing my MSc research I am working as a research manager for SA Rugby/UCT. At the AIESEP conference 2021 I will be presenting on a systematic review of research on coaches in rugby union and rugby league.
