Doctoral Program Opportunities at George Mason University (USA)

George Mason University is seeking candidates interested in pursuing a doctorate in the field of health and physical education. Funding is available for well qualified candidates. Core coursework will focus on analysis of teaching in PE, curriculum theory, and mentorship and supervision. Extensive coursework in teacher education and research methods will prepare candidates for positions in physical education teacher education at the university level. Doctoral candidates will be supervised by Dr. Dominique Banville and Dr. Risto Marttinen. Dr. Banville’s research centers on mentoring of pre-service and in-service teachers, and the secondary school curriculum. Dr. Marttinen’s research focuses on after-school physical activity programming, the integration of academic subjects and technology into physical education, and student attitudes toward physical education.
