PhD position in teacher education

The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH) invites applications for a fully funded PhD position within the EquiPETE project, a Research Council of Norway-funded initiative focused on transforming physical education teacher education through research-based, inclusive practices. The position is open to English-speaking candidates; Scandinavian language skills are not required, though considered an advantage.

About the position and the project:

The PhD position is part of the project EquiPETE – Co-developing an evidence-based framework for equity, diversity and inclusion in physical education teacher education. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Physical Education and Pedagogy (KRØ-PED) research group at NIH.

EquiPETE brings together researchers in physical education, teacher education, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) to develop and test research-based tools and pedagogical approaches. The project is based on an action research design and is conducted in collaboration with national partners, including Oslo Metropolitan University and four Norwegian schools, as well as international partners such as Monash University, Brock University, and Linnaeus University.

The aim is to empower teachers, teacher educators, and other stakeholders to actively contribute to the development of future teacher education and physical education, grounded in equity, diversity, and inclusion. While the primary context is PETE, the knowledge developed will be relevant for teacher education more broadly.
