The German Sport University (DSHS) is unique in Germany due to its thematic orientation and also plays a pioneering role in sports science in Europe and worldwide due to its great diversity of disciplines. With 350 scientists and more than 6000 students the entire breadth, but also the corresponding depth, of the sub-disciplines of sport- and movement science in the social-, humanities and life sciences are represented at 19 institutes.
Research, teaching, further education and transfer activities of the German Sport University are oriented towards “sport and movement” as a common universal point of reference and are geared towards the key themes of education, society, health and performance.

Professorship (W3) for Sports Pedagogy with a focus on School Pedagogy
The incumbent (m/f/d) represents the subject area in research and teaching and is in a position to develop the diversity of the sport pedagogical work areas in the Institute. This includes a general sports and movement pedagogical expertise in relation to school pedagogy. Teaching is conducted across the entire breadth of the subject, but with a focus on educational and sport science related degree programmes.
The GSU is looking for a personality with proven research competence in the following two areas:
– Educational and educational theory in the area of sport, – empirical research of educational processes in the area of sport.
National and international publications in peer-reviewed journals, experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funding projects and in university teaching are expected. A willingness to cooperate with other institutes and working groups especially with regard to the university’s key topics and experience in personnel management is required.
The prerequisites for employment according to the University Act NRW are:
• Successful graduation of a scientific university degree
• Special aptitude for scientific work, conferral of a doctorate,
• Pedagogic suitability,
• Post-doctoral (habilitation) qualification or equivalent scientific achievements with relation to the area of responsibility of the professorship
The position is associated with a teaching obligation of 9 SWS (factor 1).
For international applications, adequate German language skills and the ability to offer classes taught in German language within six semesters is expected.
