Under the supervision of Prof. Uwe Pühse, a group of PE students from the University of Basel (Switzerland) prepared a brochure to set out several options how to continue physical education during a pandemic. They consider three scenarios:
Scenario #1 – Teachers and students are working from home after a complete lockdown has been declared. Home schooling is demanded.
Scenario #2 – Schools present a pathway to provide in-person instruction safely through consistent use of prevention strategies. For PE lessons this means outdoor lessons with universal and correct use of masks and physical distancing.
Scenario #3 – Indoor PE lessons are permitted with the use of masks and physical distancing.
The brochure offers PE teachers a repetoire of ideas for all three scenarios. The content may not based on a specific curriculum. The curriculum does not incl udes pathways for crisis situations.
