The Kinesiology and Health Studies Department at Southeastern Louisiana University invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank available August 2020. Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in Sport Management or related discipline by the appointment date. Successful applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service initiatives set forth by the department, college, and university. Preferred qualifications include successful college teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels; a commitment to advising and mentoring students; willingness to lead accreditation initiatives set forth by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA); and desire for the potential to serve in the role as program coordinator.
Instructional responsibilities will support the undergraduate degree in Sport Management as well as the master’s concentration in Health and Kinesiology. Anticipated courses of instruction include sport promotion and fundraising, facility and event management, sport governance, sport law and ethics, sociological issues in sport, and media relations in sport. Other duties include supervising student interns, providing service to the community, and engaging in professional and scholarly activities. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
