Jenna R. Lorusso is a postdoctoral fellow funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada to work in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Limerick and the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership at the University at Albany, SUNY. She is also Adjunct Research Professor at Western University. Jenna was recently awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship from the Commission of the European Union, which she will take up at the University of Limerick in the Fall of 2022.
Jenna’s research investigates issues of policy, equity, and leadership in school- and university-based physical education via participatory investigations and critical analyses. In this research, she works with or for physical education stakeholders to address the suboptimal policies and policy configurations, inequitable structures and systems, and inadequate leadership and leadership preparation that undermine physical education teaching and learning. At the AIESEP 2022 Congress, Jenna will present alongside her co-researchers (academic and non-academic stakeholders from across the Irish physical education context) on preliminary findings from their ongoing research-practice partnership focused on addressing policy problems of practice in Irish physical education. Jenna’s recommendation for the Young Scholar Award came from Professor Ann MacPhail.
