Call for Applications: AIESEP Volunteer Social Media Position

The International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education (AIESEP) is seeking applications for a Volunteer Social Media Support role. This position provides an exciting opportunity for a doctoral student to contribute to AIESEP’s global scholarly community by supporting communications and visibility across digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the planning, scheduling, and posting of content across AIESEP’s social media channels.
  • Assist in developing engaging and visually appealing content to promote events, publications, and community updates.
  • Work collaboratively with the AIESEP Board and Administrative Support to maintain a consistent brand voice and style.
  • Contribute creative ideas to strengthen AIESEP’s online presence and engagement.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

 

The successful candidate will bring:

 

  • Current enrollment as a doctoral student, with eligibility maintained for the full duration of the two-year term.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook) and an interest in digital engagement.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Creativity in preparing visual and digital content (experience with tools such as Canva is an advantage).
  • An interest in AIESEP’s mission and values, ideally demonstrated through previous involvement in conferences, events, or networks.
  • Availability to attend the annual AIESEP conference in person (preferred, but not essential).

 

Terms of Appointment and Benefits

 

Term Length: Up to two years (single term, non-renewable).

Start Date: January 2026.

Compensation: This is a voluntary position (unpaid).

Risto Marttinen

Risto Marttinen is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at George Mason University in Virginia, USA. He earned an Ed.D. from Columbia University Teachers College in 2015. His research revolves around implementing sustainable and educational after-school physical education programs in elementary and middle schools. These programs specialize in sports and fitness in under-served communities while reinforcing character development and academics. Additionally, he conducts research on the integration of academic subjects and technology into PE. Risto also sits on the board of directors and is the Secretary General for AIESEP, the chair for the SIG 93 (the special interest group for PE) for AERA and a past facilitator for the PETE Collab
