Assistante or Associate professor in physical education & health

The Faculty of sciences of Education (FSE) of the University of Montréal (UdeM) is an internationally recognized place of excellence in educational research. Francophone, rooted in its community and turned towards the world, the SEF trains high-level professionals and researchers through rich and diversified programs and activities.

The main location of this position is the Department of Educational Psychology and Andragogy. Pedagogical issues are at the heart of our mission in the fields of educational psychology, remedial education and andragogy. The successful candidate will be a specialist in health and physical education education to pursue the development of a research program and consolidate departmental and faculty expertise in health and physical education from an inclusive and diversity perspective. The teaching of the selected candidate could be divided between the Department of Educational Psychology and Andragogy and the Department of Didactics.

Your daily challenges   

– Undergraduate and graduate teaching;

– Research and outreach activities for your discipline, promotion of faculty excellence, and participation in the operation of a renowned institution.

– Develop an innovative and high-level research program and disseminate the results through publications and other forms of outreach on themes in the field of health and physical education education with a view to inclusion and consideration of diversity;

– Contribute to the cutting-edge training of teachers in the field of physical education and health education through high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level as well as in qualifying or continuing education at the graduate level;

Supervise master’s and doctoral students and supervise essays, dissertations and theses.

Participate in the pedagogical and administrative bodies of the departments where you will be affiliated, the faculty and the university;

Provide education with varying delivery modalities.

Your qualifications:

– PhD in education or a related discipline relevant to the position. Applications from candidates in the process of obtaining a doctorate will also be considered;

– Have research experience and a research record in the field in question (scientific and professional publications).

– Demonstrate ability to provide high-quality university education;

– Have relevant work experience in health and physical education;

– Have the ability to work in a team environment in an interdisciplinary context and in complementarity with faculty members;

– The successful candidate will be called upon to work on the Montreal campus or, as needed, on the extended campuses of UdeM (Laval, Brossard);

– Demonstrate a potential to develop internal, national and international collaborations;

Have sufficient knowledge of the French language or be determined to learn it once employed through the French language learning support program offered by UdeM, under the Université de Montréal’s Language Policy.
