On July 3rd from 10:30 am to 12 pm, we will visit a Mapuche community in Santiago de Chile: “Petu Mongeleiñ Mahuidache”. We would like to invite the AIESEP family to participate in this activity that has the aim of honouring indigenous knowledge.
Mapuche are the largest indigenous groups in Chile, comprising about 84 per cent of the total indigenous population. The majority of Mapuche people live in Chile’s cities, mainly Concepción, Temuco and Santiago. The Mapuche community “Petu Mongeleiñ Mahuidache” is located in the commune of El Bosque in the Metropolitan Region. It has a Ceremonial Center made up of four ‘ruka’ (traditional Mapuche houses) and is currently managed by several Mapuche communities in collaboration. Their administrative relationship is managed between the municipality of El Bosque and the self-management work that they themselves do. This community is made up of people who decades ago had to emigrate from the countryside to the city and who have raised their families in Santiago. It is a space for revitalization and resistance in the context of the city of Santiago, the capital of Chile. In this space, various activities are carried out to strengthen the Mapuche people in Santiago and to make aspects of the Mapuche culture known to all people.
The space to visit the Mapuche community “Petu Mongeleiñ Mahuidache” includes: Visit to the space, conversation about Mapuche themes in a ‘ruka’ around the fire, accompanied by sopaipillas and wheat coffee and the delivery of a small souvenir of the visit. The visit will be guided by the keynote Carolina Kürüf Poblete Gálvez. Carolina Kürüf Poblete Gálvez is a woman indigenous Mapuche and an academic at the University of Santiago, Chile.
The visit costs $8.70 USD for the Mapuche community and $29.80 USD for transportation (total $38.50 USD). A group transport option leaving from the conference venue will be included in the payment, confirmed once numbers are established.

El 3 de julio de 10:30 am a 12 pm visitaremos una comunidad mapuche en Santiago de Chile: “Petu Mongeleiñ Mahuidache”. Queremos invitar a la familia AIESEP a participar de esta actividad que tiene como objetivo honrar los saberes indígenas.
Los mapuche son los grupos indígenas más grandes de Chile y comprenden alrededor del 84 por ciento de la población indígena total. La mayoría del pueblo mapuche vive en las ciudades de Chile, principalmente Concepción, Temuco y Santiago. La comunidad mapuche “Petu Mongeleiñ Mahuidache” está ubicada en la comuna de El Bosque en la Región Metropolitana. Posee un Centro Ceremonial configurado por cuatro ruka (casas tradicionales mapuche) y es administrado actualmente por varias comunidades mapuche en colaboración. Su relación administrativa se gestiona entre la municipalidad del Bosque y el trabajo de autogestión que ellos mismos hacen. Conforman esta comunidad, personas que hace décadas tuvieron que emigrar del campo a la ciudad y que han formado sus familias en Santiago. Es un espacio de revitalización y resistencia en el contexto de la ciudad de Santiago, capital de Chile. En este espacio se realizan diversas actividades para fortalecer a las personas mapuche en Santiago y para dar a conocer a todas las personas aspectos de la cultura mapuche.
El espacio de visita a la comunidad mapuche “Petu Mongeleiñ Mahuidache”, incluye: Visita por el espacio, conversación de temas mapuche dentro de una ruka alrededor del fuego, acompañados de sopaipillas y café de trigo y la entrega de un pequeño recuerdo de la visita. La visita estará guiada por la conferencia magistral Carolina Kürüf Poblete Gálvez. Carolina Kürüf Poblete Gálvez es una mujer indígena mapuche y académica de la Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
La visita cuesta $38.50 USD e incluye el transporte. Se incluirá en el pago una opción de transporte grupal que salga del lugar de la conferencia, que se confirmará una vez que se establezcan los números.
Las plazas son limitadas, así que llegue temprano. Fecha límite de pago 23 de junio.
