Ash Casey – AIESEP Fellow 2026

Ash Casey is one of two AIESEP members who we will be awarding our Fellowship Award to during Taipei 2026.

The AIESEP Fellowship is an outstanding academic recognition, which is awarded to qualified scholars.

The purpose of the AIESEP Fellowship is:

To recognise scholarly excellence in research in physical education, physical activity and sport pedagogy across the lifespan.

And to recognise excellence in professional practice in physical education, physical activity and sport pedagogy across the lifespan.

We would firstly like to introduce you to Ash Casey:

Ash Casey is Professor of Physical Education and Pedagogy and Director of Teacher Education at Loughborough University. He is well known for his work on Models-based Practice, which he has been developing since his early days as a PE teacher. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy, a 2024 BERA PESP Scholar Lecturer and a 2023 National Teaching Fellow. Ash taught in a secondary school for 13 years, an experience that continues to shape his research and practice. He works with teachers and organisations across the United Kingdom and internationally to support pedagogical change in physical education.
