The Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at SUNY Brockport announces a current opening for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position in Physical Education-Teacher Education to begin August 21, 2023.
Duties include but are not limited to: 1) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Physical Education-Teacher Education; 2) Advise department majors; 3) Maintain a record of scholarship; 4) Perform departmental, school and college service including work related to CAEP accreditation; 5) Supervise student teachers; 6) Attend and participate in department and PETE major meetings; and 7) Assume leadership roles in departmental, school and college committees over time.
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in Physical Education-Teacher Education or related field (ABD within 6 months of hire) from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university; the ability to teach lecture and laboratory-based courses in the Physical Education-Teacher Education major; the ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda; the ability to provide service to the department and college; and the ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences.
Preferred qualifications include experience teaching Physical Education in K-12 schools, certification in Physical Education from state of origin, and experience with CAEP accreditation.
