The Illinois State University (Normal, Illinois, USA) School of Kinesiology and Recreation invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Physical Education Teacher Education to begin August 16, 2024.
Position responsibilities include:
TEACHING: Provide quality instruction in a variety of undergraduate Physical Education Teacher Education courses (e.g., Adapted Physical Education, Secondary PE Methods) and graduate online courses in the Physical Education Pedagogy graduate sequence. Direct graduate research projects and theses.
SCHOLARSHIP: Develop a focused area of scholarship that culminates in nationally refereed publications and presentations and be involved in scholarly projects with faculty and students.
SERVICE: Participate in College, School, and Program faculty meetings and activities. Serve on Program, School, College, and/or University Committees and contribute to State and/or National/International professional organizations. Advise majors regarding general career options and professional matters.
Position qualifications are as follows:
- Doctoral degree in Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) or a closely related discipline is required. Applicants with expected completion of their doctoral degree before March 1, 2025, will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience as a licensed K-12 physical educator.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
