Thinking of starting a new Special Interest Group – here’s how.

Currently we have two Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within AIESEP, these are: the Early Years which focuses on research and practices related to physical education and sport in the early years of childhood (ages 0-8 years). It aims to enhance understanding and development of physical education programs for young children, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles from an early age.

The second SIG is the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) which promotes research and practical applications of TGfU, emphasizing a student-centered approach to teaching games and sports. The SIG encourages innovative teaching methods and strategies to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of games in educational settings.

What about a third SIG?….

Maybe you’re thinking of starting a new SIG and want to develop your own SIG. AIESEP invites you to channel your enthusiasm, passion and expertise in a specific area in sport pedagogy, physical education or physical activity research by establishing a new Special Interest Group (SIG). Creating a SIG offers a unique opportunity to lead and cultivate a specialized community within AIESEP.

To initiate this journey, we have developed a SIG handbook to help you through the stages and to make the application process effortless. Both the handbook and application form can be found on the website link.

We look forward to receiving your applications.

If you need any help with the process please contact Kristy or Carla, your AIESEP SIG Liaison Officers.
